JUNIOR PLUMBING DESIGNER
Growing NJ-based engineering firm is seeking a Junior Plumbing Designer to complement their team.
DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plumbing and fire protection system design for health care, commercial, education and laboratory buildings, including existing renovations/retrofits and new construction.
Assist other Engineers with engineering duties on larger complex health care, higher education and science & technology/institutional projects to meet production deadlines and complete client projects.
Assists in development and implementation of engineering and design concepts for domestic water, compressed laboratory gases, purified water, sanitary and storm water collection systems as well as wet and pre-action dry fire protection systems.
Engages in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
Attends project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors.
Participates in client project requirement meetings and value analysis and basic cost estimating.
Assists upper level staff with developing and managing the project scope, budget, staffing and schedule.
Participates in the preparation and coordination of the project specifications with construction documents.
Performs calculations of plumbing and fire protection elements using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.
Review drawings and documents for presentation and accuracy prior to submittal.
Utilizes advanced techniques for the analysis of specialized plumbing and fire protection elements.
Participates in constructability review.
Assists in the development of new standards and specifications for the plumbing & fire protection group.
Works on multiple projects.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Group Leader and/or Engineering Discipline Leader such as supporting new project proposals by developing scope, design budgets and design approach for potential projects.
Conducts field surveys of existing conditions of building spaces.
Prepares field reports and punch lists.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s/Associate's Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
2-to-5 years of relevant plumbing & fire protection design experience.
LEED Green Associate or LEED AP helpful.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit.
