An excellent Medical Communications client of ours is actively seeking an industry experienced Associate Medical Director / Medical Director with a strong Publications/Publication Planning background within a Medical Communications company setting.

Qualified applicants will have experience providing scientific expertise within a medical communications company with a strong publications foundation.
Position responsibilities & attributes sought:
- This role will be accountable for all medical aspects of publications including strategy, planning, and implementation.
- This role is hands on working with clients and developing content not simply a staff management role
- Strong experience to ensure company compliance within the changing publication landscape
- Understanding of the current industry guidelines (CMJE, GPP2, Sunshine Act)
- Experience with mentoring, direct, quality control/quality assurance of junior staff members work (Assoc Medical Director, medical writers, etc)
- Work collaboratively with the scientific affairs team to assure high quality, accurate medical/scientific content
- Participate in new business process from a scientific affairs standpoint.
- Creation and execution of scientifically sound publications/publication planning activities
- Initiative to gain necessary background on product and/or therapeutic category
- Interaction with faculty, clients and/or other key opinion leaders
- Provided clinical, scientific and strategic insight for content development
Requirements:
- Qualified individuals will have 3+ years or more of industry Medical Education, Publication Planning, Medical Communications medical writing/ medical direction experience
- Advanced Degree in Science (PhD, MD, PharmD degree)
- CMPP Certification a plus
- Any therapeutic experience considered, Oncology, Hematology, R/A, Immunology, Rare Disease or Anti-infective therapeutic experience a plus
- Ability to review & mentor junior medical writers
- Strong scientific acumen and ability to quickly learn new therapeutic areas
- Excellent communications skills both written and verbal
- Previous content development & oversight experience that would include original and review manuscripts, abstracts, posters, oral presentations, executive summaries, and publication plans.
- Publications experience is required for this role
- Computer Proficient (Microsoft)
