Medical Director (Medical Communications - Publication Planning)

My client an excellent Medical Communications company in the local area is actively in search of a Medical Director with a strong foundation in Publications/Publication Planning. This position is a full time permanent staff role, with paid vacation, 401k, benefits, etc.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
- This role will be accountable for all medical aspects of publications including strategy, planning, and implementation.
- This role is both QA/QC of others work as well as some hands on content development (50/50)
- Understanding of the current industry guidelines (CMJE, GPP2, Sunshine Act)
- Develop and discuss outlines of assigned projects
- Speak with external authors and client medical affairs teams
- Establish timelines and ensure that project is in accordance with client SOPs and ICMJE guidelines
- Perform literature analyses to support project development
- Experience with mentoring, direct, quality control/quality assurance of junior staff members work (Assoc Medical Director, medical writers, etc.)
- Work collaboratively with the scientific affairs team to assure high quality, accurate medical/scientific content
- Participate in new business process from a scientific affairs standpoint.
- Creation and execution of scientifically sound publications/publication planning activitie
- initiative to gain necessary background on product and/or therapeutic category
- Interaction with faculty, clients and/or other key opinion leaders
- Provide scientific and strategic insight for content development
- Excellent time management, multitasking and ability to deliver on time and on point.
- Ability to interact and work directly with the clients
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal
Qualifications:
- PhD, MD, PharmD, advanced degree along with at least 2 or more years of experience at the Medical Writer/Sr Medical Writer/Associate Medical Director level within a healthcare communications agency, medical education, medical communications company
- Oncology therapeutic experience
- Publication Planning experience
- Content development & oversight experience that would include original and review manuscripts, abstracts, posters, oral presentations, executive summaries, and publication plans.
- Publications experience is required for this role
- Computer Proficient (Microsoft)
- Understanding of AMA guidelines
- Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work both independent and as a team
