DIRECTOR MECHANICAL ENGINEERING - INDUSTRIAL ROBOT CELL DESIGN

Well-respected System Integrator seeks experienced Mechanical Engineering Director who has direct experience managing engineers for the industrial robot cell design industry.  This candidate must have direct experience managing teams of mechanical engineers along with at least 10 years of experience.

The Director will have responsibility for the quality of work and adherence to project schedules. Looking for a capable, creative and self-motivated professional who wants a career working in a constantly changing variety of applications, industries and engineering challenges.

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Design experience in industrial robot cells, reach analysis, end effector tooling, fixture design, cycle time analysis and safety systems
  • 10+ years of managing mechanical design engineering teams in industrial robotics 
  • Ability to learn quickly and remain current in this constantly evolving field The Director, Mechanical Engineering, position involves 
  • Managing a team of mechanical design engineers 
  • Interacting with the project manager, project engineers, the fabrication shop and the customer in a professional manner 
  • Adhering to project schedules and budgets while managing multiple projects simultaneously 
  • Guiding design for robot cells, end effector tooling and custom equipment within the cell and then verifying the quality of the work
  • Growing the skills of each Mechanical Engineer
  • Collaborating with sales, estimating and management for pre-sales assistance with robot cell concepts Skills and Knowledge Required: 
  • Proficiency with 3-D modeling software - SolidWorks preferred • Knowledge of ANSI/ASME standards Knowledge of the design of mechanisms involving pneumatic systems and electric motors, including experience with servos, sensors, materials, finishes and structural design 
  • Knowledge of fabrication and machining processes used to make custom components 
  • Knowledge of automated industrial processes
