Chemical Engineer

Role:
As a Chemical Engineer, you'll be responsible for both project engineering and process engineering. You'll be working in a pilot plant / scale up environment working closely with operations, engineering, laboratories as well as other commercial groups for new product introductions for small scale plants. Day to day, you'll be working with chemists to evaluate unit operations, you'll be the technical lead to all types of stage gated projects, lead design hazard reviews, prepare proposals, define the scope, create cost estimates, concept drawings, track timelines and scheduling, present updates / findings, etc. This position will be handling several different materials and chemicals including hazardous material. You'll be dealing with centrifuges, sublimers, cyrstallizers, reactors, distillation, adsorption, refrigeration & heating systems, as well as different type of containers with various designs. This is a position that is going to be very highly visible to management, the executive level, and overall operations!!

Responsibilities:

  • Perform both project and process engineering duties with new product development to drive profitability
  • Work with chemists to be their technical lead
  • Prepare project proposals, concept drawings, schedules, fabrication, and project execution
  • Track, monitor and document the process
  • Track, monitor and document spending; budgets and forecasts
  • Work with industrial machinery such as reactors, crystallizers, refrigeration & heating systems, cylinders, driers, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or similar discipline is required
  • Masters or MBA is a plus
  • 7+ years of working within a pilot plant and/or scale up environment
  • Prior knowledge or experience with laboratory or pilot plants is a must
  • Minimal travel will be required depending on the project's location. 5-10%

Travel:
There is very minimal travel with this position.

This is an in office position with some flexibility. Vaccinations are being required.
