MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER
Well respected System Integrator seeks experienced Mechanical Engineer responsible for mechanical design of components, and Custom Machine Design, including layouts, end effectors, fixtures etc. This is an outstanding opportunity to join a premier Integrator and work with the best!
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Work experience in manufacturing
- Packaging Automation experience preferred
- Machine design, robotics and automation experience
- Ability to learn quickly to remain current in this constantly evolving fie
Description:
- Understanding and implementing the technical requirements and scope of work for each project Interacting with the project manager, project engineers, the fabrication shop and the customer in a professional, productive and effective manner
- Adhering to project schedules and budgets while working on multiple projects simultaneously Designing robot cells, end-of-arm tooling and custom equipment within the cell
- Selecting and specifying robots and other cell equipment
- Generating detail and assembly drawings of custom equipment including end-of-arm tools
- Testing and troubleshooting equipment,
- Supporting the fabrication and installation team
Skills and Knowledge Required:
- Proficiency with 3-D modeling software (SolidWorks preferred) and 3-D AutoCAD
- Knowledge of ANSI/ASME drafting standards; ability to read, create and check drawings
- Knowledge of the design of mechanisms involving bearings, pneumatic systems and electric motors, including experience with servos, sensors, materials, finishes and structural design
- Knowledge of robotic cell design including reach analysis, cycle time analysis and safety standards
- Knowledge of fabrication and machining processes used to make custom components
- Knowledge of automated industrial processes
