SHIPPING / RECEIVING CLERK
GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
The shipping / receiving clerk will support the Facilities Services Department’s responsibility for the shipping, receiving, scanning, recording and delivering all packages and mail at the Valley Forge Site.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for visually inspecting and screening incoming packages while using Xray scanning equipment
- Unpack, examine, reject damaged shipments and complete internal deliveries
- Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies
- Responsible for keeping and adequate supply of shipping materials on hand at all times.
- Maintain work area in a clean and orderly condition
- Follow established safety and security procedures
- Coordinate deliveries to alternate locations with courier service
- Collect and deliver interoffice mail envelopes
- Collect and distribute US mail and FedEx packages
- Operates hand trucks pallet jacks and fork trucks to move/ deliver materials
- Confirm delivery of assets using the Asset Management Software to track inventory

CHARACTERISTICS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- High school diploma
- Physically capable of lifting up to fifty pounds, able to bend, kneel, climb ladders
- Experience using fork trucks, pallet jacks and banding equipment
- Excellent work ethic -- positive, forward-thinking, “can do” attitude.
- Ability to address multiple tasks in concurrent manner from assignment to completion.
- A self-directed and highly motivated worker with the ability to take a project from inception to completion.
- Ability to assimilate information and follow instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with management, supervision, peers and customers.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively work in a team-based environment
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to follow safety procedures including the proper use of safety PPE
- Previous employment in a shipping / receiving role
Preferred:
- Previous work experience in commercial office facilities support operation.
- PC literate (use of Microsoft Office tools and Auto Cad)
- Prior experience with shift work and ability to work rotating shifts supporting a 7x24 environment.
- Electrical, mechanical, wiring, or automated building system monitoring experience.
