Senior Mechanical Engineer
Job Description
Fantastic innovative company has an opening for a Senior Mechanical Engineer! This role will have the opportunity to be creative and come up with cutting edge new products to be used in everyday life. The ideal fit would have a strong Mechanical Design Engineering background with various materials including metals and plastics.
Position Responsibilities
- Creates new and innovative products, product enhancements or new technology to meet customer requirements
- Design responsibilities will cover all development phases from overall systems level design and architecture to the detailed design and parts and assembles and documentation
- Work with suppliers to coordinate prototyping activities and to insure design expectations are met
- Work closely with customers worldwide to design new innovative products
- Write and review technical documentation including test plans, requirements specs, operational manuals, test reports and fabrication plans
- Perform tolerance analysis for form, fit and function of high volume parts and assemblies.
- Design and execution of test plans and identification of critical path elements to minimize risk on short life cycle projects
Position Requirements
- Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering or similar field
- 6 to 10 years of experience in engineering design environment for consumer facing products
- Experience using SolidWorks (or other 3D parametric modeling software)
- Excellent understanding of fundamentals of design and manufacturing processes including sheet metal, welding, injection molding, extrusion and casting
- Strong experience with finite element analysis (FEA) tools
