Background
**ARIES/PHD-WIN Experience is Key - Working on Operator and Banking side preferable**
My client is a multi-asset class platform dedicated to pursuing special situations, middle market direct lending and credit-oriented adjacency opportunities on a global basis. We are the dedicated credit and special situations platform of TPG and has approximately $20 billion in assets under management.
We conduct investment activities through four primary platforms:
- Special Situations Platform – Global special situations and opportunistic credit strategy targeting control-oriented, illiquid investments.
- Direct Lending Platform – Direct origination strategy targeting opportunities at the top of capital structure with secured first and second lien investments that have control features and inflation/reinvestment protection.
- TAO Platform – “Between the box” investments outside the mandates of the special situations or direct lending funds, as well as overage deals from other platforms. (Adjacent Opportunities Partners)
- Par Liquid Credit Platform - Focuses on investment opportunities in the broadly syndicated leveraged loan, high yield and structured credit markets.
We are run by the former CIO of Goldman Sachs Americas Special Situations Group. The senior investment team is based in San Francisco, New York and London, and this position will be based out of the newest Houston office
Description of Position:
- We are seeking an addition to be a part of the our energy team primarily focused on technical analysis associated with investment analysis and investment valuation
- We primarily target asset-based oil and gas investments and structured financings; we are looking for an individual that will develop a broad base suite of analytics on key performance indicators for asset valuation and existing portfolio companies, including LOS financial statements and well production updates and analysis
Immediate Responsibilities:
- Analyze monthly joint interest billings (“JIBs”) to assure proper treatment of capital costs, operating costs, and confirm allocations based on working interest and net revenue interest sharing
- Build well-by-well LOS financial statements to analyze trends, key risks/opportunities, report on key variances vs. budget, and reconcile to monthly JIBs
- Prepare well production reports to track well performance against investment underwriting conditions across our portfolio
- Manage existing Aries/PhdWin databases and update/create alternative scenarios to address various sensitivities on PDP cases, development timing, costs and type curves
Medium-Term Responsibilities:
- Build single and multi-well development cash-flow models (Aries/PhdWin) to evaluate cumulative production, revenue, operating expenses, and the return profile of various development scenarios and opportunities
- Pull relevant and appropriate data to support preparation of competitive analysis for ranking of basins, operators, completion techniques, lateral lengths, producing horizons, etc.
- Integrate Spotfire to present data trends and create information sharing to broad audience
Qualifications:
- Minimum of three years of work experience focused on upstream oil & gas; which can include various roles in the FP&A or Business Development group of an oil & gas company, or portfolio
/asset management/accounting roles at an investment firm
- Strong desire to lead analytics and portfolio management of the Energy franchise
- Demonstrated experience developing/evaluating technical data, supporting technical analysis, and working in a transaction oriented environment
- Strong command of technical analytical software and approaches (including PHDWin, Aries, Spotfire, IHS Enerdeq (or DI), Arc GIS).
- Eagerness to work hard in a team-oriented, performance based environment
- A self-starter that requires limited oversight in the completion of individual projects in a multi- tasking project environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to senior leaders
- Expert or in-depth knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
