Manufacturing General Manager 

My client is looking for a manufacturing general manager to lead a team of 50+ employees, not all would be direct reports.  This is a non union environment.  Candidate will be expected to work with manufacturing, engineering, hr, finance, administration, procurement and sales.  

Manufacturing General Manager

The General Manager is accountable for providing leadership, coaching and mentoring, to the Leadership Team. In addition, this position is responsible for leading and directing in three basic areas of responsibility: daily operations, strategic planning, and people management and development. Specific responsibilities include execution of the production plan, logistics, leading continuous improvement efforts, training and career development of their employees.
Job Duties
• Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to direct reports. Use every opportunity to promote collaboration, innovation, and excellence throughout the organization.
• Facilitate strategic planning and execution to enhance the profitability, productivity and efficiency of the company.
• Take the lead on the development of strategy, objectives, and goals to measure progress and success. Track savings and benefits through metrics and communicate in various forms.
• Oversee improvements to processes (including automation opportunities), procedures, and plans that will increase efficiency within manufacturing. Interface with other managers and departments to ensure best practices, teamwork, and smooth integration of quality and productivity improvement initiatives.
• Review department data for quality, service and technical reasons and implement actions to correct failures and make improvements as necessary. Review and approve outgoing quality inspection data.
• Ensure that manufacturing process, order fulfillment process and/or quality data collection systems are properly designed and achieving desired outcomes.
• Plan and prepare for on-site customer visits relating to manufacturing issues.
• Create department budgets, and manage costs, taking corrective action as necessary to meet or exceed targets.
• Conduct performance reviews, recommend raises and bonuses, and initiate disciplinary actions if necessary for all direct reports.
• Manage department staffing levels, justifying and selecting new department hires when necessary.
• Provide a leadership role in the review of new products for manufacturing feasibility.
• Plan and oversee major capital expenditures for facilities and equipment.
• Serve on the Leadership Team and exemplify expectations of leaders. Attend and participate in departmental and team meetings.
• Assist and train staff in the analysis and interpretation of data. Leverage data and knowledge to facilitate collaborative decision making across groups within the organization.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree required
• Minimum 10-15 years’ experience in managing manufacturing required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Strong proficiency in quality improvement systems, techniques and process analysis
• Formal training in leadership/management and proven record of successful team management and development required
• Strong business development, corporate strategy and marketing acumen
• Strategic thinker with proven record of achieving successful results
• Demonstrated success in building and guiding an executive team to develop and monitor organizational goals and objectives
• Passion for excellent customer service
• Ability to read, understand, and analyze financial statements
• Excellent organizational and management skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including ability to make presentations
• Working knowledge of Windows software applications required
