Field Applications Engineer
A busy electronics manufacturer in the Philadelphia area is looking for an Applications Engineer to support the ales process. The candidate should be strong in either mechanical or electrical engineering, but ideally would have well-rounded experience across both engineering disciplines. Actual experience with electronics enclosures and particularly open standards architectures (VME, VPX, etc.) would be a plus. The candidate should be able to produce conceptual models of potential solutions to the customer’s requirements. Potential candidates should have the ability to quickly build relationships with potential customers while being able to set expectations that mutually benefit both parties. The ideal candidate would show some potential in the areas of leadership and strategic thinking.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support during the sales process
- Make technical recommendations on how to solve customer problems.
- Generate cost estimates.
- Create conceptual designs for proposals.
- Create proposals in response to customer requests.
- Participate in the product development teams.
- Assist in the project management process.
- Generate technical information for marketing purposes.
- Occasional travel may be required.
Qualified candidates must possess:
- BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- 3-5 years of engineering experience (electrical or mechanical, but have some minimal level of competence in both)
- Strong Interpersonal Skills
- Strong Organizational Skills
- CAD experience (Solidworks preferred)
- Sheet Metal Design Experience (preferred)
