Mechanical Engineer Department Head
My client is an mid-sized MEP Consulting Engineering firm that is actively seeking an Mechanical Engineer to run the Mechanical Department.. The successful candidate will be a seasoned and capable engineering project manager, capable of designing and engineering a project from initial concept through completed construction. The Requirements — • B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution. • Professional Engineering License in NJ & PA (If applicant does not have both, the ability to obtain the one the applicant does not have). • Project management experience a must (including interfacing with client, coworkers, and code officials). • Proven track record of success in managing multiple projects simultaneously. • Hands-on experience with engineering, design, building, and mechanical code requirements, with emphasis on multifamily facilities including affordable housing, student housing, and market-rate housing. • Develop and evaluate system concepts and options to determine best design and engineering solution for each project based upon project scope • Develop design drawings and specifications for building mechanical systems • Perform systems analysis and prepare reports and studies as well as cost estimates • Lead and coordinate with architects, engineers, designers, and administration staff • Interface with clients to discuss changes to designs and/or specifications • Energy efficient design knowledge is definitely a plus. • Document quality assurance and control skills. • Project field experience (punch list and physical needs assessments). • Professional technical writing skill is beneficial. • Work with leadership to manage design manpower budget and update budget to reflect revisions or changes in scope • Represent the company in a professional manner in all dealings with owners, architects, vendors, other design professionals and contractors • Assisting in the firm’s human resource efforts through training and mentoring junior firm members • Work closely with marketing, leadership and business development • Perform other duties as assigned • Demonstrated proficiency in ArchiCAD or AutoCAD environment. • LEED accreditation is desirable, but not a requirement.
