Electrical Department Head – MEP Consulting Engineering
An established MEP consulting engineering firm is seeking an experienced Electrical Department Head to lead and grow its electrical engineering practice in the Washington, DC market. This leadership role is ideal for a seasoned professional who combines strong technical expertise with team leadership, client relationship management, and business development experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Electrical Engineering Department, including project managers, engineers, and designers.
- Oversee project execution, quality control, staffing, and resource planning.
- Drive business development by cultivating new client relationships and expanding existing accounts.
- Serve as the electrical technical lead on complex commercial, healthcare, higher education, government, mixed-use, and mission-critical projects.
- Mentor and develop engineering staff while fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.
- Establish department standards, improve processes, and ensure compliance with applicable codes and industry best practices.
- Partner with firm leadership on strategic planning, hiring, and long-term growth initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- 8+ years of MEP consulting engineering experience.
- Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams and managing department operations.
- Proven track record of winning work and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Expertise in power distribution, lighting, emergency power, and building systems design.
- Proficiency with Revit and industry-standard electrical design software.
