Principal Cloud Modernization Architect
Location: (Hybrid) TN, TX, IL, GA, NJ
Our client is seeking a Principal Cloud Modernization Architect to lead the design and delivery of enterprise-scale cloud-native solutions. This highly visible role combines application architecture, Kubernetes, cloud modernization, and client advisory responsibilities while partnering with technical and business stakeholders across multiple initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Lead architecture strategy for cloud-native application platforms
- Design and modernize enterprise applications utilizing microservices and API-driven architectures
- Architect scalable Kubernetes and container-based environments on Google Cloud
- Develop cloud migration, modernization, and transformation roadmaps
- Define architectural standards, best practices, and governance frameworks
- Design CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and DevOps-enabled delivery models
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align technology solutions with business objectives
- Mentor architects, engineers, and technical leaders across multiple programs
- Lead architecture reviews and provide guidance on technology selection and implementation approaches
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Deep expertise with Kubernetes, GKE, and containerized environments
- Experience designing microservices, APIs, event-driven systems, and cloud-native applications
- Knowledge of BigQuery, Cloud SQL, messaging platforms, and cloud integration patterns
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, DevOps, and DevSecOps practices
- Strong understanding of cloud modernization, application transformation, and migration strategies
- Ability to engage with executive stakeholders and provide architectural leadership across large-scale initiatives
- Excellent communication, consulting, and team leadership skills
Preferred
- Experience leading enterprise architecture or modernization programs
- Background in consulting or client-facing environments
- Experience with large-scale distributed systems and cloud transformation initiatives
- Google Cloud certifications highly preferred
