Municipal Department Manager – North Jersey | Hybrid Flexibility
A well-established consulting engineering firm in North Jersey is seeking a Municipal Department Manager to lead and grow its municipal practice. This is a high-impact leadership role overseeing client relationships, project delivery, and team development across a diverse portfolio of public sector work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and expand municipal engineering services for township, borough, and county clients
- Oversee design and permitting for capital improvement projects (roadways, drainage, utilities, site development)
- Serve as primary client liaison for municipal officials, boards, and agencies
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers, designers, and support staff
- Review plans, reports, and specifications for quality and compliance
- Support business development efforts including proposals and presentations
Qualifications:
- BS in Civil Engineering or related field
- PE license required (NJ preferred)
- 10+ years of municipal engineering and project management experience
- Strong knowledge of NJDEP regulations and local permitting processes
- Proven leadership and client management skills
