Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated Electrical Drafter/Designer to support the design and development of industrial automation and control systems. This role focuses on creating electrical drawings and panel designs for automated equipment and processes using AutoCAD Electrical.

This is an excellent opportunity for a mid-level/senior-level professional—ranging from those with internship experience to several years in the field—who is eager to grow in controls engineering, panel design, and industrial automation systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with engineers to develop electrical designs for industrial control systems and automated equipment
  • Create and modify detailed electrical schematics using AutoCAD Electrical
  • Design control panels including layout, component selection, and wiring design
  • Produce complete drawing packages, including:
    • Bills of Materials (BOM)
    • Cable and interconnect lists
    • Terminal strip layouts and wiring diagrams
  • Ensure designs align with industrial automation standards and best practices
  • Assist with control panel build and wiring, supporting shop activities as needed
  • Revise drawings based on engineering feedback, redlines, and field changes
  • Maintain organized documentation for projects and support standardization efforts

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years in electrical drafting/design, preferably in industrial or controls environments
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical (required)
  • Understanding of industrial control panels and panel design (level appropriate to experience)
  • Ability to develop and interpret electrical schematics
  • Familiarity with common automation components (relays, PLCs, power supplies, terminal blocks, etc.)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Team-oriented with good communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to industrial automation systems or controls engineering
  • Hands-on experience with control panel assembly and wiring
  • Familiarity with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and I/O systems
  • Technical schooling, certification, or apprenticeship in an electrical or automation-related field

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • A junior to mid-level candidate with some exposure to AutoCAD Electrical
  • Someone who understands the basics of control panels and schematics and is continuing to build their skillset
  • Open to both entry-level candidates with internship experience and more experienced designers ready to take on greater responsibility
  • Eager to learn, take direction, and grow within automation and controls
  • Detail-oriented, reliable, and proactive

What We Offer

  • Career growth within industrial automation and controls engineering
  • Hands-on exposure to real-world automation systems and equipment
  • Mentorship from experienced engineers and designers
  • Stable, team-oriented work environment with minimal travel

The team here is built on a strong sense of camaraderie, where collaboration, respect, and support are part of the daily culture. Employees take pride in working together, sharing knowledge, and helping one another succeed, creating an environment where everyone feels valued.
