Project Manager – Electrical Controls & Automation (Water/Wastewater)

Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Project Manager to lead electrical controls and automation projects within the water and wastewater sector. This role is ideal for a professional with a strong background managing mid-to-large scale projects ($500K+), combined with technical expertise in AutoCAD Electrical and a working knowledge of industrial controls systems.
You will take ownership of projects from kickoff through completion, ensuring on-time delivery, budget adherence, and high-quality execution while serving as the primary point of contact for customers and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage electrical controls and automation projects from design through commissioning
- Maintain full accountability for project budgets, schedules, and deliverables
- Develop and manage bill of materials, labor forecasts, and cost tracking
- Utilize AutoCAD Electrical to support design reviews, drawing development, and project documentation
- Coordinate with engineering, field technicians, and subcontractors to ensure successful execution
- Serve as the primary customer interface, providing clear and timely communication throughout the project lifecycle
- Assist with change orders, project adds/deducts, and invoicing support
- Oversee control panel design, testing, installation, and startup activities
- Support troubleshooting, commissioning, and customer training as needed
- Ensure compliance with NEC, UL508, and industry standards
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and provide feedback to leadership
Qualifications
- 5+ years of project management experience in industrial, electrical, or automation environments
- Proven track record managing projects valued at $500K+
- Strong proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical (required)
- Working knowledge of PLC/HMI systems and industrial automation
- Experience in water/wastewater or similar process industries preferred
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field (preferred)
Technical Skills
- AutoCAD Electrical (advanced proficiency required)
- Familiarity with PLC platforms (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.)
- Understanding of SCADA systems and industrial communication protocols
- Knowledge of NEC and UL508 standards
- Microsoft Office Suite and project tracking tools
