Senior Manager of Pricing

Our client, is seeking a strategic and commercially driven Senior Manager of Pricing to oversee the firm’s approach to pricing, matter economics, and client value delivery. This leadership role plays a central part in shaping how the firm structures engagements, evaluates financial performance, and responds to evolving client expectations.

Working closely with executive leadership and practice group heads, this individual will help integrate pricing strategy with broader business objectives to support profitability, competitiveness, and long-term client relationships.

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee the firm’s pricing framework across practices and key client accounts.
  • Guide partners on fee structuring, budgeting, and commercial positioning for significant matters and client pursuits.
  • Lead financial analysis related to staffing models, margin performance, and matter forecasting.
  • Support strategic rate setting and broader revenue planning initiatives.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with finance, business development, and practice management teams to ensure commercial alignment.
  • Evaluate outcomes of completed matters to identify performance trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Stay informed on market dynamics, client procurement practices, and competitive pricing strategies.
  • Build and manage a high-performing pricing and client value function.

Professional Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience (10+ years) in legal pricing, legal operations, or professional services financial strategy.
  • Significant hands-on experience supporting pricing in a large law firm or corporate legal environment.
  • Strong knowledge of law firm financial metrics and profitability drivers.
  • Demonstrated success managing complex fee proposals and structured pricing arrangements.
  • Advanced analytical and financial modeling capabilities.
  • Executive presence with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Prior team leadership or management experience required.

Preferred: Advanced degree (MBA or JD), experience with legal financial systems (e.g., 3E, Aderant), process improvement credentials, or familiarity with client relationship management platforms.
