Controls Engineer

Designs, develops, programs, and maintains automated control systems used in industrial, manufacturing, energy, and process environments. This role focuses on ensuring machinery and systems operate efficiently, safely, and reliably through the integration of hardware, software, instrumentation, and control strategies.
The engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams—including electrical, mechanical, and software engineers—to develop control architectures, configure PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), implement HMI/SCADA systems, and optimize automation processes. They are responsible for system design, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:

Design and develop control systems for automated equipment and processes

Program and configure PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems

Create electrical schematics, control panel layouts, and system documentation

Integrate sensors, actuators, drives, and instrumentation

Perform system testing, validation, and commissioning

Troubleshoot and resolve system performance issues

Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards

Support upgrades, retrofits, and process optimization projects
Required Skills & Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field

Experience with PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.)

Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Profibus)

Understanding of control theory, PID tuning, and system integration

Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
