Electrical Control Systems Technician
Position Overview
A growing control systems integration firm is seeking a skilled and self-motivated Controls Technician to support industrial automation projects across multiple industries. This role involves hands-on work with control panels, PLCs, HMIs, and field devices, supporting projects from installation and startup through troubleshooting and long-term system support.
The ideal candidate is adaptable, technically strong, and comfortable working in fast-paced industrial environments while collaborating closely with engineers and customers.
Key Responsibilities

Install, wire, and commission industrial control panels and field instrumentation

Support PLC and HMI systems during startup, testing, and commissioning

Assist with configuration and setup of AC and DC motor drives

Troubleshoot electrical, controls, and automation issues on manufacturing equipment

Perform I/O checkout, loop testing, and functional system verification

Read and interpret electrical schematics, panel layouts, and control drawings

Support engineers with field changes, redlines, and documentation updates

Assist with control system upgrades, retrofits, and expansions
-
Interface professionally with customers during onsite service and startup activities

Follow safety procedures and assist with safety circuit verification and testing
Required Qualifications

Associate degree or technical training in Electrical Technology, Industrial Automation, or a related field — or equivalent hands-on experience

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Strong electrical and controls troubleshooting skills

Experience with industrial control systems, PLCs, and motor drives

Familiarity with Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMIs, and drives preferred

Experience with additional control platforms is a plus

Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams

Willingness to travel to customer sites as required
