Senior Aviation Planner – Airport Planning
New York City, NY. $90,000 to $120,000
We are seeking a Senior Aviation Planner with deep airport planning experience to lead complex aviation projects and serve as a trusted advisor to airport clients for a direct-hire and permanent staff position. This role focuses on technical leadership, regulatory rigor, and direct client engagement across commercial and general aviation airports. You will manage and execute planning studies, guide grant-related work, and provide strategic input to airport leadership and internal management. The position includes mentoring junior staff and maintaining accountability for scope, schedule, and quality.
Required qualifications include: Permanent Residency (Green Card) or US Citizenship, a Bachelor’s Degree in aviation or airport planning, urban planning, civil engineering, or a closely related discipline, along with 7–10 years of progressive experience in airport planning across both large and small airports. Candidates must demonstrate strong working knowledge of FAA regulations, airport planning processes, and state and federal grant programs. Clear written and verbal communication skills, analytical judgment, and the ability to manage client relationships are essential. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and strong organizational skills are required.
Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree in a relevant field and hands-on experience with airport planning and modeling tools such as AutoCAD, AviPLAN, TAAM, AirTop, SIMMOD, or CAST. Additional strengths include familiarity with ICAO aerodrome standards, ACRP reports, IATA ADRM.
