Patent Technology Specialist
130,000 - 160,000
We are seeking a Technology Specialist with an advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Physics and 1–3 years of experience to join our Electrical & Computer Technologies (ECT) group. This role offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of technology, law, and innovation, helping to protect groundbreaking inventions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review technical disclosures and participate in client interviews to understand new inventions.
- Search literature and patent databases to assess the patentability of inventions.
- Draft written assessments evaluating the prospects of obtaining patent protection.
- Prepare and draft patent applications.
- Respond to communications from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
- Develop arguments supporting patentability for submission to Patent Office Examiners.
- Conduct patent reviews as part of IP due diligence for potential acquisitions or mergers.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field.
- Strong judgment, maturity, and curiosity, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate effectively in team environments.
- Strong interpersonal skills for working with business leaders, attorneys, scientists, engineers, inventors, and patent examiners.
