Real Estate General Manager - Multifamily assets - $140-180k - Cleveland, OH - Remote
Our client, a rapidly growing real estate investment and management firm with a diverse portfolio of multifamily assets across the country, is seeking a General Manager to join their team.
The General Manager is a pivotal leadership role within this organization and will be responsible for the overall operational, financial, and strategic performance of a portfolio of multifamily properties. This individual will oversee all aspects of property management, including leasing, resident relations, maintenance, budgeting, marketing, and team leadership, with a strong focus on maximizing occupancy, revenue, and resident satisfaction. The successful candidate will possess extensive, hands-on experience within the multifamily real estate industry.
Key Responsibilities:

Financial Performance & Budgeting:
-
Develop, implement, and manage annual operating budgets for assigned properties, ensuring adherence to financial goals and expense control.

Monitor financial performance regularly, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions as needed.

Drive revenue growth through effective leasing strategies, rent optimization, and ancillary income opportunities.
-
Approve expenditures within established guidelines and ensure proper invoice processing.

Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports to senior management.

Property Operations & Management:
-
Oversee all day-to-day property operations, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, safety, and curb appeal.

Develop and implement effective preventative maintenance programs to preserve asset value.

Manage capital improvement projects, from planning and budgeting to execution and quality control.

Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations

Implement and enforce company policies and procedures across all properties.

Leasing & Marketing:
-
Develop and execute strategic marketing and leasing plans to achieve occupancy targets.

Monitor market trends, competitive pricing, and adjust strategies accordingly.

Oversee resident move-in/move-out processes and ensure timely unit turns.

Implement effective resident retention programs.

Team Leadership & Development:
-
Recruit, hire, and train high-performing property management teams, including Property Managers, Leasing Agents, and Maintenance Supervisors.

Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and performance management to foster a positive and productive work environment.

Conduct regular team meetings to communicate goals, address challenges, and recognize achievements.

Foster a culture of exceptional customer service among all property staff.

Resident Relations:
-
Ensure a superior resident experience through proactive communication, responsiveness, and conflict resolution.

Address resident concerns and complaints promptly and effectively.
-
Implement strategies to enhance resident satisfaction and community engagement.

Risk Management:
-
Identify and mitigate potential risks related to property operations, safety, and compliance.
-
Oversee emergency preparedness and response plans.
-
Ensure proper insurance coverage for all properties.

Qualifications:
-
Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive leadership experience in multifamily real estate property management is required.

Proven track record of successfully managing a portfolio of multifamily properties, including market-rate, luxury and distressed assets.

Demonstrated expertise in all facets of multifamily operations, including budgeting, financial reporting, leasing, marketing, maintenance, and resident relations.

Strong financial acumen with the ability to analyze financial statements, create budgets, and identify opportunities for revenue enhancement and cost savings.

In-depth knowledge of landlord-tenant laws and other relevant industry compliance requirements.

Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and develop high-performing teams.

Proficiency in property management software (e.g., Yardi, RealPage, AppFolio, MRI) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive, results-oriented approach.

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Real Estate, or a related field preferred. Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CPM, CAPS) are a plus.

Ability to travel locally between properties as needed.
