PLUMBING ESTIMATOR
Greater Philadelphia Area mechanical construction contractor is looking for a Plumbing Estimator.
Our Plumbing Estimator must be capable of:
· Build relationships with clients and sell services.
· Prepare, maintain, and keep projects on schedule.
· Perform detailed conceptual estimates for commercial Plumbing Systems. This will require a basic layout of systems for takeoff with adjustments to complete pricing. Where no drawings are available it will require compiling historical data. Written communication with the General Contractor / Owner at this stage will be essential to eliminate misunderstandings of what our pricing includes as well as potential unforeseen cost.
· Visit job sites and interact with project foreman. Make sure foreman is turning in all proper paperwork.
· Complete budgets for cost accounting based off estimates.
· Work with subcontractors and vendors to eliminate scope gap.
· Prepare over and under billing reports per project.
· Put together Change Orders, cost revisions and cost updates.
· Issue Pre-Bid and Post-Bid RFI’s. Must maintain logs and project documentation.
· Must attend and conduct pre-bid and post-bid design and construction meetings.
· Assemble O&M’s, Submittals, and Start Up Manuals.
· Review and respond to all punch list items.
· Verify and update delivery and installation schedule.
· Release of equipment and fixtures (including follow-up).
· Issue and maintain all subcontractors contracts.
Qualifications
· Estimators will be working on or completed a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or 2 years’ Estimating Experience at a major plumbing contracting company.
· Estimator must have the ability to interact with customers, vendors, subcontractors and other employees in a pleasant manner and maintain good working relationships with Clients.
· Estimator must be able to handle frequent interruptions such as calls from clients, vendors, subcontractors and field personnel and then resume takeoffs with accuracy.
· Estimator must have good math and reading skills, they are essential.
· Ability to read and interpret construction documents, RFP’s, project narratives etc.
· Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and Familiarity with Computerized estimating software. Familiarity with Autodesk products are a plus
· Estimator must have an in-depth understanding of the International Plumbing Code, International Mechanical Code, International Fuel Gas Code as well as the design, operation and maintenance of plumbing and HVAC systems.
· Estimator must have a basic understanding of Cost Accounting and Work In Progress Schedules.
· Estimator must have a proactive mentality
