Knowledge Management Manager - NYC Law Firm - $190-225k
*Qualified candidate must have prior/current law firm/legal industry experience.
Summary:
The Knowledge Management Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring that the law firm's vast repository of legal knowledge is effectively captured, organized, and accessible to attorneys and staff. This position is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive knowledge management strategy, overseeing the creation and maintenance of the firm's knowledge base, and fostering a culture of knowledge sharing among the firm's legal professionals.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a knowledge management strategy aligned with the firm's strategic goals and objectives.
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of the firm's knowledge base, including identifying and capturing new knowledge, developing and maintaining content guidelines, ensuring content quality, and assuring the accuracy and relevance of information.
- Establish and manage a process for identifying and capturing knowledge from subject matter experts (SMEs) within the firm.
- Implement and maintain knowledge management tools and technologies, such as knowledge bases, content management systems (CMS), and search engines.
- Promote a culture of knowledge sharing within the firm, encouraging attorneys and staff to contribute to the knowledge base, utilize existing knowledge resources, and collaborate on knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Provide training and guidance to attorneys and staff on knowledge management practices and tools.
- Track and measure the effectiveness of the knowledge management program, evaluating its impact on attorney productivity, client service, and firm profitability.
- Stay abreast of emerging knowledge management trends and technologies, identifying opportunities for enhancing the firm's knowledge management capabilities.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school or a Master's degree in Information Science, Library Science, Knowledge Management, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in knowledge management, legal information management, or a related field.
- Proven ability to develop and implement knowledge management strategies within a legal environment.
- Excellent legal research and writing skills.
- Experience with knowledge management tools and technologies, including CMS, search engines, and taxonomy development.
