Job Details:
My client is a well regarded Union Electrical Contractor who is actively looking for a Field Safety Manager to assist the Safety Director with various projects in the local 3 state area. Duties include:
- Assists with new hire general safety orientation.
- Coordinates, conducts and documents safety meetings and on-site safety audits.
- Assists Safety Director in preparing safety policies and procedures; provides support in implementing these policies and procedures.
- Ensures that federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules are observed.
- Monitors activities where accidents could occur, halting any operation or activity that constitutes an imminent hazard to personnel or equipment and implements best practices.
- Provides safety technical support and education for supervisors and employees. Provides feedback to encourage learning.
- Promotes proactive and preventive safety activities by observing, analyzing, encouraging safe work behaviors and correcting unsafe conditions.
- Integrates safety into project plans by establishing safety goals, reinforcing safety policies and procedures.
- Monitors safety compliance, creating awareness and set priorities that focus on continuous safety improvement.
- Works with Operations Managers, Project Managers, Superintendents to develop, implement and monitor annual comprehensive Safety Plans
- Leads, coordinates and documents incident investigations to include a detailed RCA, sharing of lessons learned, communicating next steps and tracking associated action items.
- Monitors safety compliance, creating awareness and set priorities that focus on continuous safety and DOT improvement.
- Travel is required; currently work area (Mass, CT, NY)
Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of 29 CFR OSHA 1926 Construction Industry Regulations & subpart V.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word
- Proven communication, organizational, presentation and analytical skills
- Confined Space knowledge
- Excavations Standards knowledge
- Transmission & Distribution system knowledge
- Management / Training experience in Transmission & Distribution
Education:
- Degree / Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health. Role in the Utility field or Construction Management preferred, related field equivalent experience will be considered.
- CSP or CUSP
- OSHA 510, 500
- OSHA 10, 30
