Job Details:
My client is a well respected Non-Union mechanical contractor and sheet metal contractor. They are seeking a sort of hybrid Assistant Project Manager/ Assistant Estimator to compliment the Project Manager and Estimator on staff. Duties include:
- obtain and review specifications and drawings. Attend pre-bid meetings or job walks to determine scope of work and required content of estimate for assigned projects.
- Send out RFP’s to vendor. Obtain and log quotes
Project Management Responsibilities:
- Perform duties to assist Project Manager in managing a construction contract. Monitor the performance of suppliers and subcontractors. Verify equipment schedules and assist with expediting of equipment. Work with equipment suppliers and subcontractors, requiring knowledge of mechanical systems.
- Responsible for the preparation of job start-up paperwork including but not limited to fabrication standards and job map. Assist Project Manager with the breakdown of drawings, key to plan, as-built drawings and cuts. Submit shop standards for engineering approval. Responsible for submittals and tracking of punch lists. Prepare and update computerized project schedule. Monitor field workforce requirements.
- Perform duties to maintain and supply information and materials to departments to ensure on time services, materials and equipment to construction jobsites. Order special materials for jobs, as required. Schedule materials, tools, hardware, equipment and trucks. Generate field prints.
- Process time and material and authorization for extra work. Prepare job breakdown for job cost and billing. Price change orders and follow-up on receipt, as requested by Project Manager. Process and follow-up on RFI’s (Request for Information). Responsible for duct leak testing based on projects assigned.
- Assist Project Manager on receipt of required forms from field foremen, including Apprentice Attendance, Daily Job Logs, Tool Box Talks, etc. Responsible for tracking and gathering information required for O&M manuals.
- Assist Project Manager with maintaining a safe work environment and participate in company safety initiatives.
- Create project maps for new projects and file accordingly
- Work in main office or on jobsites.
- Distribute monthly tool inventories to foreman and ensure they are returned accurately and promptly
- Place/schedule material orders and follow up on deliveries. Process purchase requisitions through purchasing department.
- Track field productivities to ensure that foreman are submitting them on time and process reports.
- Work with PM’s in buying out equipment on new projects
- Prepare Fabrication Standards (Shop Standards) for submittal
- Prepare Leak Tests for field
- Assist project managers and sales in preparation and negotiation of change orders.
- Prepare close out documents as needed.
- Prepare and maintain submittal logs.
- Send & Receive Submittals (drawings, equipment, material, etc.) to customer
- Track, log, file returned submittals.
- Process stock requisition orders using Stock Requisition Program
