Our medical communications agency client is actively seeking to add a New Business Development Director to the existing team.   Competitive base + commission, 401k with company match, comprehensive benefits package and more!

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

The main responsibility of this position is to effectively communicate and expand business opportunities with pharmaceutical & biotech client relationships within the New England area. 

This position will work with product, brand & marketing teams to sell and assist in the development of communications that help to educate the defined audience. Managing relationships within client contacts, industry KOL’s (Key Opinion Leaders) and a keen sense and ability to deliver on client’s expectations, goals and projects are essential. 

  • The Business Development Director will utilize their existing established inroads to bring in new clients, establish accounts and grow the relationship.
  • Medical Communications / Promotional Medical Education industry experience building and growing new relationships with industry leading product, branding, and marketing managers in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries.
  • This position requires an individual with strong communication skills (both written & verbal), outgoing, professional, and able to interact with client’s and management at all levels.
  • Excellent organizational, strong leadership and client interaction with a focus on sales results, excellent judgment, reasoning, and interpersonal skills to work effectively and manage diverse personalities in a “team” idealized company.
  • Identify business opportunities and establish new relationships through interaction with key players at targeted pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.
  • Develop educational strategy, presentations and customized proposals for customers based on their objectives, desired tactics, and budget parameters.

  • Ideal candidates must have industry specific experience  
  • Develop educational strategy, presentations and customized proposals for customers based on their objectives, desired tactics, and budget parameters.
  • Develop and cultivate relationships with key KOLs
  • Business growth and development, managing relationships within developed accounts, industry KOL’s (Key Opinion Leaders) and a keen sense and ability to deliver on client’s expectations, goals and projects is essential.
  • Build and expand relationships with Product/Brand Managers.
  • Liaise with client and staff operations team to define expectations and meet business targets
  • Secure new business and effectively transition work to the client services team
  • Requirements


    •At least (5+) or more years of business development experience selling Promotional Medical Education, Medical Communications services & scientific programs such as: (Advisory boards, slide deck development, pre & post launch advisement, Speaker’s Bureau’s, MSL & field sales training, managed markets training, innovative video series, interactive web series, app development, live evening programs, product theaters, interactive evening symposia, digital game development, research and medical papers, executive coaching, congress management, attendee recruitment, speaker training, video production, to name a few).
  • Current industry experience and proven success in a business development role
  • This is not an organizational staff management role, rather focused on new business development and client base expansion
  • College degree is a plus, not required
  • Existing client contacts &relationships that will help expand new business opportunities is expected
  • Strong ability and understanding of science is desired. 
  • Excellent communication, relationship building and team management skills
  • Knowledge, understanding and creativity to assist in the development, discussion and explanation of strategic marketing and educational programs.
  • Competitive base salary + excellent commission plan paid on revenue generated
