Project Manager / Senior Project Manager (Heavy Civil Construction)

My client an excellent Site/Heavy Civil Construction contractor is actively seeking an experienced Project Manager or Senior Project Manager for a full time permanent staff opportunity. This role will manage a variety of commercial, DOT and public works projects in site construction (Highway, Roadway, Excavation & Utilities, Storm & Sewer Lines, Drilling & Blasting, Asphalt Paving, Concrete, Bridge, etc.). Position Description
- Individuals will provides the technical knowledge, people skills and experience to bid & effective estimate assigned projects. Ability to accomplish the professional aspects of the role primarily by means of direct efforts and through effective communication and team work of company professionals.
- This role includes an understanding of site work construction, along with the ability to interact & effectively communicate with clients, county & township personnel and team members in a professional timely and efficient manner.
- Serve as a mentor to junior team members. Applicants must have both technical & people management skills in order to truly succeed in this role.
- Technical skills: Site work construction field understanding, accurate & efficient estimating, bidding, client business development, Awareness of market competition, time management
- People skills: communicating, listening, cooperating as a team member, solving problems, contributing in meetings, resolving conflict, setting an example, teambuilding, making decisions, planning, instructing, coaching and motivating.
Responsibilities
- Strong estimating & project management experience
- Effectively communicate with team during meetings
- Serve as an active participant/leader with projects from bid selection & initiation through the planning & construction phase
- Work with project team to develop and implement strategies to achieve project pricing & cost objectives according to the estimate
- Address and manage necessary change orders with the project team
- Communicate with the project team to understand project scheduling and conflicts
- Attend & participate in regularly held leadership meetings
- Utilizes leads to help identify upcoming project opportunities
- Perform estimate from receipt of bid package through final bid review
- Manage the available bid time to insure accurate and timely preparation of a complete estimate
- Organize and detail the estimate so that it can be properly priced, easily understood for review purposes, and efficiently turned over to the field personnel
- Maintain the highest standards of professionalism, fairness and ethical behavior when representing the company
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
Minimum Qualifications
- 6+ years of industry heavy civil/site work construction project management experience; (Roadway, DOT, Highway, Excavation, Utilities, Asphalt Paving, Concrete, Design & Build Projects)
- Strong negotiation, bidding and project management experience
- Excellent communication skills both written & verbal
- Very strong organizational skills
- College degree a plus (not required) engineering, construction management or related field
