Automation Controls Engineer
Automation Equipment Controls Electrical Programming Engineer - develop and design machine controls for newly built custom automation machines, upgrades to our current standard machines, line modifications, and additions.
Duties and responsibilities
Develop engineering design including the following: Electrical schematics, panel layouts, and the bill of materials for equipment. Provide the programming for PLC’s and HMI’s.
Documentation AutoCAD Electrical. Develop project resource requirements for time and manpower. Prepare and submit purchase requisitions for projects. Prepare and submit purchase requisitions for projects. Purchasing of components. Scheduling and planning team meetings with contractors, consultants, plant personnel, and management to deliver on time.
Train plant personnel on operation, maintenance and use of equipment. Maintain project documentation and assist in creating Machine Operation Manuals. Occasional assistance in the shop to help fabricate the panels. Some travel required to the customer site for startup assistance on our machines.
Skills
Working knowledge of machine control systems and their applications
Programming skills in PLC’s – Allen Bradley, Cutler Hammer, Mitsubishi, etc.
Proximity and Photo Sensors. Servo Controls. Robot programming skills are a plus.
Thorough understanding of electrical programming, sensors, change commands, and troubleshooting.
Competent skills with PC’s, networking, device communications, integration, and design.
Working knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical, Excel. (RSLogix, RSLinx, C-more, DirectSoft32 a plus)
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal for working with customers and team members.
You must enjoy handling multiple projects, in different phases, at the same time. Hands-on individual that is self-motivated to provide the controls engineering. Experience a multitude of different industries. The individual will have a lot of authority to investigate different types of hardware and software to keep the machine designs current with the ever changing technology.
Key words - Rockwell Automation Allen Bradley PLC’s, RSLogix 5000/500/5, Studio, Factory Talk, Wonderware System Platform, PanelView Plus, RSBizWare RSBatch, etc. SCADA and HMI packages (Intellution, and Wonderware). Automation, Controls, System Integration, PLC’s, HMI’s. Siemens S7 PLC Systems, FactoryTalkView ME/SE. Experience with Siemens PLC's is a plus.
