Controls Engineer
Assists in direction and completion of electrical/controls engineering design tasks and support new or existing machine installs either in the field or remotely.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop, test, troubleshoot, modify integrated control systems including, PLCs, HMIs, vision systems, robotic systems, and motion control systems.
- Provide remote support to our customers and our field service technicians as required in the areas of electrical and program troubleshooting.
- Travel to customer sites to install new machines and troubleshoot and repair existing machines.
- Train customer personnel in the setup and use of machines.
- Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, applicable regulations, company standards, and customer contract requirements, and related specifications.
- Participates in coordinating activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems.
- Work independently and under minimal supervision prosecuting assignments assigned principally by the Lead Controls Engineer and/or incidentally at the direction of the Engineering Manager.
- Develop and modify panel layouts and wiring schematics using AutoCAD.
- Develop and install control systems in a cost effective and timely manner in accordance with project schedules, budgets, customer requirements, and equipment specifications.
- Perform value analysis and sustaining engineering tasks, and product improvement designs to enhance manufacturability, productivity, reliability, safety, quality, and cost effectiveness.
Skills
- Experience and proficient with Allen Bradley current PLC platforms and Rockwell RSLogix software.
- Ladder-logic programming, knowledge of various PLC programming languages
- AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical.
- Capital equipment or engineered-to-order products is required.
- Validation procedures and change-control practices relating to control system development and modification is a plus.
- Systems integration involving multiple vendors is a plus.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to Microsoft Windows, MS Office, MS Project and Programmable Logic Controllers. The ability to travel 30% - 35% yearly.
Key words - Rockwell Automation Allen Bradley PLC’s, RSLogix 5000/500/5, Studio, Factory Talk, Wonderware System Platform, PanelView Plus, RSBizWare RSBatch, etc. SCADA and HMI packages (Intellution, and Wonderware). System Integration, PLC’s, HMI’s. Siemens S7 PLC Systems, C#, .NET, Visual Basic, Servo Controls, Proximity and Photo Sensors.
BS Engineering Degree, Associates Degree, and/or other technical training school and/or experience. 4+ years’ experience. US Citizen, Green Card. Generous salary, bonus and benefits package.
