ELECTRICAL DESIGN ENGINEER (TOP 10 PLACES TO WORK IN DC AREA)
Experience / Qualifications
- 8 years (minimum) experience in low and medium voltage distribution electrical power systems design
- Understanding of electrical studies (short-circuit, coordination, arc-flash, harmonics, grounding)
- Experience developing detailed scopes of work for electrical distribution systems
- Familiar with National Electrical Code, NFPA and International Council Codes
- Demonstrated written and oral communication skill
- Eligible to obtain federal security clearance
Education / Certifications
- Bachelors of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (minimum)
- Professional Engineer’s registration|
- Technical Abilities include:
- Low and medium voltage electrical distribution design
- Electrical equipment sizing and load calculations
- Integration of diesel and gas power generation engines
- Renewable energy system design and integration
- Energy storage integration (i.e. battery, fuel cell, fly-wheel)
- Understanding of protection relaying schemes and SCADA controls
- Integration of microprocessor control and industrial control systems
- Knowledge of short circuit analysis, coordination studies and arc-flash analysis
- Familiarity with power quality, power factor and harmonic analysis
- Integration of distributed power generation, electrical distribution, smart grid controls, metering and communications systems
- Power quality improvement, variable speed drives, energy efficient motors,
- Electrical system cost estimating
- Technical proposal, subcontract and specification writing
- Participation in sales and customer presentations
- Existing electrical system site surveys and documentation review
- Review of equipment submittals, design drawings and specifications
- Documentation quality control
