Capital Project Design Manager
Role:
As a Capital Project Design Manager, you'll be responsible managing a small team of engineers as well as working hands on as an engineer to help lead and design capital projects. These projects are complex as you'll be assessing the performance, progress, schedules and handling any changes throughout the process. This could include budgeting, scheduling, changes in the scope, etc. This would also include strategy, directing engineering resources, reporting, modeling, critical path, working with third parties, etc.
Responsibilities:
- Be a key member for project planning and design; work with project manager to develop an initial plan
- Be a part of the strategy in order to help the flow, execution and make strategic decisions along the way that will impact the overall capital project
- Develop and Lead the design execution strategy
- Work with operations and procurement to ensure everyone is on the same page
- Lead small team of engineers to make sure project is on target, within budget, as well as monitor and reporting of performance and progress
- Review critical path and report on changes or updates
- Organization and coordinate design and model reviews frequently
- Work through any issues and develop a plan for resolution
- Train, mentor, and lead a team of engineers
Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in Engineering is required. Masters is preferred
- 8+ years of prior project engineering experience with capital projects within the manufacturing, industrial, chemical, or similar industries
- The ability to manage and lead a team and the want to be part of the mix; hand-on; within the thick of things
- The ability to work with all levels of employees across a wide range of disciplines on complex projects
