Building Automation Controls Engineer
Description

The Building Automation System (BAS) Controls Engineer / Automation Specialist shall be responsible for evaluating various BAS functions and capabilities for performance, and identify software opportunities that enhance system operability and improve energy efficiency. The individual must have working knowledge of manufacturers such as: Siemens, Andover, Johnson Controls, Honeywell, ALC, and Trane.

The successful individual will identify energy-efficient automation solutions; and participate in various phases of a project including control testing, create the revised sequence of operations, programming configuration, and start-up of a variety of automated processes. The candidate must demonstrate a track record of proficiency with control systems and a proven ability to troubleshoot.

In addition, the ideal candidate shall have the ability to help create a training curriculum that can be utilized to ensure that system operators understand their important role and responsibilities towards ensuring the BAS functions as intended. This training shall include the technical functional areas that are necessary to ensure overall success

Your professional experience will demonstrate your computer skills, ability to handle multiple projects, communication skills, ability to diagnose automation problems and interact with teams, clients and control vendors. This position reports to the Senior Manager.



Qualifications



• A Bachelor's degree in an Engineering or Science discipline is preferred; or equivalent combination of education and technical experience.



• Possession of a Control Systems Engineer (CSE) License is preferred but not required

  • 8+ years of direct experience in the building automation and controls environment as an Engineer or a Technician.

Job Requirements:

  • Strong working knowledge of building automation systems and how these systems can be enhanced to improve energy efficiency
  • Create a BAS Training Curriculum that can be utilized to support operator training. This generic training syllabus shall be utilized as a baseline to create the training documentation that will be specific to each client campus.
  • Provide on-the-job training to BAS operators
  • Work with BAS vendors to implement changes to system SOO and hardware
  • Evaluation, identify and troubleshoot BAS issues and deficiencies
  • Revise current sequence of operations to improve system energy performance
  • Create formal documentation, including memorandums, reports, status reports, etc., which are routine deliverable
  • Manage a diverse environment with focus on client service is essential for success in this role
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and non-verbally to internal and external customers
  • Understand the programming language (highly desirable, but not a requirement)
