Controller
Greater Bristol, CT Area
Role:
A leading construction organization just outside of Bristol, CT is looking for a controller. Due to an upcoming retirement, the organization is looking for their next Controller to help lead the organization into the future. This would include working with the CFO to help run the corporate accounting functions of the organization. You would oversee corporate accountants, project accountants, and operational accounting (AR, AP, Billing, etc.).
Responsibilities:
- Run Accounting close monthly, quarterly, and annually
- Preparation of financial statements
- Coordinate job close outs with Project Managers;
- Oversee Time & Material Weekly & Monthly Billings
- Oversee Record Cash Receipts, Requests & Track Trade COI's, W-9's, Billing Status
- Responsible for overseeing bi-monthly check run, ensuring vendors/subs are paid in accordance with specified terms
- Assist CFO with Quarterly Financial Statements for all Entities, Monthly & Quarterly Accruals
- Oversee Monthly Account Analysis including Debt Schedule, WIP Schedules, Fixed Assets, PP Insurance
- Responsible for overseeing entire payroll process including new hire processing & set up, updating processes and procedures, ensuring compliance with all prevailing wage laws, employee benefit administration and Union Dues/Fringe Benefit payments and reporting.
- Bank and Credit Card Reconciliations
- Run Financial Statement Audit, WC and GL Insurance Audits and Union Audits
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree is required
- 10+ years of prior accounting or controllership experience within the construction industry
- Certifications a preferred
- Prior experience with unions is required
