Construction Estimator
Estimator – Senior Estimator – Commercial Construction
An excellent commercial GC/CM construction company in the Central NJ (Union County) is actively seeking an experienced Estimator/Sr Estimator to join the team. Level of position is open depending on candidate industry experience but ideally targeting a 5-15+ year candidate. This role is responsible for securing profitable work through comprehensive estimates and superior customer service, while effectively utilizing and contributing to the team’s success.
This role will either directly or indirectly through supportive staff have the following duties:
- Strong commercial construction experience: Ground Up, Fit Out, Renovations, Additions, Interiors.
- Conduct quantity take-offs, proposals, bid work, meet with clients
- Project experience with commercial, institutional, academic a plus
- Strong working knowledge of commercial construction methods, processes and management practices
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
- Efficient & responsive to the needs of internal and external clients alike
- Build estimates based on an understanding of design, constructability, and sequencing of a project.
- Experience preparing reports and estimating documents for projects.
- Manage estimating process and timelines to meet company objectives, both short and long term.
- Perform necessary research to produce accurate, complete, and competitive pricing.
- Communicate with customers to define the project scope, address deficiencies, negotiate pricing, and build relationships.
- Provide leadership, direction, and training to junior estimating team members.
- Prepare and present completed estimating packages to company executives and senior management.
- Continuously follow up on all bid projects and accurately forecast future awards / probabilities.
- Must be able to complete accurate take-offs, and prepare scopes and schedules
- Works well with all levels of team in a productive manner
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)
- Extremely detail-oriented and well-organized
- Strong employment history
QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least five (5) or more years of relevant commercial construction estimating experience
- Degree a plus but not mandatory
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and experience in relevant industry estimating software a plus
- Ability to multi-task
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be organized, detail-oriented and efficient.
- Able to provide a high level of customer service.
