Job Details:
The SCADA Specialist provides daily technical and user services to and for the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition systems installed within company.
Required Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Telecommunication or a related field;
- 2-10 years experience in electronic measurement and/or Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, with an understanding of various SCADA protocols, RTUs including software, PC based RTU test equipment, telecom communication circuits, plant interface metering and SCADA interface with plant PLC control systems. (Additional experience required for Senior and Lead positions)
- An equivalent combination of education and experience
- Background in natural gas distribution, transmission and production applications such as gas measurement, forecasting and compressor control
- Experience in operation of various SCADA Applications: Cygnet as well as packages such as AutoSol for device polling
- Experience in the operation of gas measurement RTU’s such as: Eagle, Barton, Mercury, Bristol Babcock NUFLO, Kim Ray, Fisher ROC and Flow Automation
- Proven experience in creating software and system architectures for distributed applications in a high transaction environment
- Experience in a leadership/project management role with increasing responsibility preferred
The SCADA Specialist is responsible for:
- Configuration maintenance and support of the primary SCADA applications, as well as its associated data polling applications and interface with field remote terminal units (RTU's);
- Providing customer service support to all SCADA application users across all business units;
- Facilitating and leading simple to complex projects, directing developers from a technical perspective and telecommunication engineers during the expansion and addition of new pipeline infrastructure and assets.
- Providing technical oversight of measurement SCADA, controls equipment, and programming;
- Directing efforts to develop system application specifications utilizing business knowledge and testing developed programs to ensure proper functionality and implementation;
- Coordinating with vendors on performance or upgrade issues;
- Participating in the 7 x 24 on call rotation support assignment;
- Analyzing and evaluating SCADA systems and add on utilities, to develop or modify programs and procedures to enhance systems or solve complex business challenges;
- Assisting in the design and development of screen layouts, graphical user interfaces, reports, system interfaces, as well as data mapping;
- Promoting a positive working team environment, interfacing with internal and external departments;
- Establishing processes to resolve problems and providing support to system operators and dispatchers on the use of the SCADA systems;
Required Skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of Natural Gas Business - Production, Gathering, Midstream and Distribution
- Demonstrated knowledge of the support and maintenance of SCADA systems and protocols, RTUs, communications circuits, and plant interface metering and SCADA interface with plant PLC control systems
- Demonstrated knowledge of the operation, dispatch, and control of gas measurement and compressor facilities
- Demonstrated problem solving skills using SCADA systems and architectures
- Knowledge of MS Windows 2008, 2012 R2, 2016 Server, MS SQLServer, and VMware
- Demonstrated programming skills utilizing VB, C+ or .net
