Job Details:

Controls Electronics Production Manager

Respected Automation Systems Integrator seeks:

REQUIRED: 8+ years of experience in component level electronic repairs working for a 3rd party repair vendor (not OEM)

    • Perform evaluations, determine and enter pricing and projected hours for evaluation jobs.

    -          Physically inspect each item for evaluation or have a tech perform an eval.

    -          Check and correct booking in details, e.g. manufacturer, part number, serial no. etc.

    -          Call customer for fault description if none received (if needed).

    -          Check competitive pricing, enter our price as per pricing guidelines.

    -          Assign the repair to a technician based on guidelines for tech specialties.

    • Assign approved repair jobs and service calls to technicians (or self).

    • Carry out repairs and field service calls as needed.  Assist with sales calls or other duties as needed.

    • Check that technicians are booking 8 hours a day to repairs or shop jobs.  Review jobs that go over the projected hours (techs need to be instructed to check with the electronics production manager in this case).

    • Determine if a repair job is to be returned unrepaired.  Ensure that detailed notes are entered, and that the salesperson for that customer is notified so that they can look into selling the customer a replacement. Notes on job should include make & model of parts that cannot be sourced if the reason is parts unavailability.  Check if the parts can be crossed.

    • Check work in progress reports weekly, chase up old jobs, making sure that none are being left.

    • Ensure that the tech shop is kept clean and tidy:

    -          Schedule weekly half hour clean up by all technicians to include sweeping the floor.

    -          No junk to be left on workbenches or piled on floor.

    -          Tools are to be tidied away between each job.

    -          No more than two jobs at a bench at any time except for rush jobs or for working on multiples of the same item.

    • Organization of paper documents.  Ensure that techs keep the manuals and customer files organized (i.e. appropriately labeled and alphabetized) on shelves and in file cabinets.

    • Organization of tools, test equipment.  A place of everything and everything in its place.  Check that tools and equipment are operational and stored properly during the weekly tidy.

    • Organization of test fixtures.  Test fixtures should be clearly labeled with what they are for testing, and with their location.  Small fixtures such as small connectors can be kept in the plastic bins shelves, larger fixtures on the wood shelves.

    • Carry out annual performance appraisals for technicians, and submit requests for pay adjustments as appropriate.

    • Deal with customer technical or job status enquiries.
