Electrical Controls Technician
The Controls Technician I provides technical support for assigned department regarding troubleshooting using PLC’s (Programmable Logic Controllers), HMI’s (Human Machine-Interface) and related systems. The Controls Technician I provides troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical and automation related systems including hydraulics, pneumatics, drives, motors, wiring and field instrumentation.
This job requires a high school diploma or equivalent and experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment is preferred.
Duties & Responsibilities
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Analyze job requests received for priority, material requirements and scope of project.
- Installation, modification, monitoring, troubleshooting and repair of automated industrial equipment.
- Perform verification and troubleshooting of equipment using common diagnostic tools.
- Work with maintenance electrical/mechanical personnel in the process of installing, upgrading and maintaining equipment.
- Have a basic knowledge and understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, fluidic, and electrical systems and components and how they operate.
- Maintain, install and update computer systems associated with the automation network and its related components.
- Able to understand and create electrical drawings.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns that affect production and/or quality of end product.
- Use CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to create purchase orders and accomplish PM and work order procedures.
- All other tasks assigned by management.
- Responsible for following all safety policies including the Cardinal Safety Rules.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
