Job Details:
Machine Shop Supervisor
The Machining Supervisor is responsible for the organization and operation of the machine shop during their shift by monitoring the performance of the machinists, verifying the quality of parts made, and maintaining the schedule of the shop.
Education and Competencies
- Technical Degree in CNC Operations, Programming, or Tool and Die (or equivalent experience); Manufacturing Engineering degree preferred
- 5+ years previous work experience in Machining/Manufacturing; Experience in a previous supervisory role preferred
- Ability to multitask
- Strong leadership skills and ability to motivate employees
- Maintains cleanliness in the machine shop and follows best practices for organization of tools, equipment, and WIP material
- Strong written and oral communication
- Excellent computer skills and ability to teach and guide employees in the use of software
Duties
- Trains and develops all machining personnel providing guidance and discipline when required
- Provides clear directives for the machine operators and material handlers to complete work
- Follows and enforces safety requirements
- Verifies raw material delivered from material handling in anticipation of upcoming production work. On off shifts, capable of pulling material and using Kasto\Epicore software to issue material to jobs.
- Enforces cleanliness in the shop, execution of TPM processes, and the inventory of tools and equipment
- Assists operators in machine setup and tooling
- Verifies production quantities and inventory of completed parts and uses production software to complete work orders
- Directs shop employees on lean operations and policies.
- Works on continuous improvement plans.
Qualifications & Skills
- Understands and can diagnose CNC programs using Camplus software.
- Experience with Operating, Programming and Maintaining Emmegi CNC Centers
- Candidate has experience in the use of ERP software and is comfortable verifying inventory, managing work-orders and tracking time logging and completion.
- Displays strong spatial aptitude and the ability to read blueprints and mechanical drawings
- Candidate can teach and perform quality control checks and use a variety of quality control measurement tools including tape measures and calipers.
- Understands quality requirements for fabricated façade components and can diagnose quality issues
- Candidate works constructively and collaboratively with other departments
- Candidate displays the ability to work with a rapidly changing schedule and to efficiently reprioritize work
- Has experience dealing with personalities and experience how to handle various situations that arise.
