Automation & Electrical Engineer (PLC/SCADA)

Position Summary:

Provides technical expertise for all automation & electrical engineering activities. Implements and maintains overall electrical engineering objectives and initiatives. Confronts and solves performance/operational issues to improve efficiency. Works cohesively with Engineering Manager and the engineering team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reviews customer specifications and requirements to provide direction to the estimating team during the RFQ process.
  • Interprets the Customer P&IDs and specifications for definition of the project I&E requirements.
  • Selects appropriate technology for projects (PLC, Drive, Instruments, Sensors, Valves, Actuators, MCC, etc.) and ensure project compatibility.
  • Ensures full compliance of industry codes and standards for work undertaken, including calibration of sensors and instrumentation
  • Develops and/or leads the development of all technical documents required for the design, fabrication and installation for on-skid I&E components such as, Control Panel Layout & Design, Electrical Power Distribution Systems Design, I/O Wiring, loop diagrams, logic diagrams, Cable Tray/ Raceway and/or Conduit Layouts. Network (SCADA, HMI, RTU, Internet IP, etc.) System Design and Communications.
  • Develops and/or leads the development of all technical documents required for the design, fabrication and installation for field construction/installation such as Marshalling panels, earthing plans, plant lighting with SLD and BOQ.
  • Participates in the development of project P&IDs
  • Host design review meetings with team members to ensure outputs continually satisfy design goals including functionality, reliability, quality, budget & timeline.
  • Defines the system’s global architecture and prepares feasibility assessments from an electrical and automation standpoint.
  • Writes test procedures and reports, as related to the automation of the equipment packages. Participate in project teams and all activities related to the development of new products.
  • Provide technical support to sales and marketing for bids and proposals.
  • Experience with technical writing (operating procedures).
  • Excellent computer skills and knowledge of MS Office and other function-specific software.

Qualifications:

Skills acquired through the completion of an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline and 8 plus years of related experience.

  • Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in:
  • Design & fabrication of Oil & Gas Production/Processing Equipment
  • Applicable US Electrical Codes and Certifications
  • Domestic USA Oil & Gas Production and Operations

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline is preferred
  • Minimum of 5-8 years’ experience
