Chief Estimator
My client is one of the Top Ten places to work in Washington DC. You will Estimate the most complex and large-scale jobs, including conceptual estimates, negotiated bids, budgets, general conditions, systems studies and comparisons, value engineering, subcontractor relations and staying abreast of industry developments applicable to estimation
Required Education and Experience
•Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or related field;
•15+ years of experience in Estimating, or equivalent;
•10+ years of experience as a Commercial Construction Estimator;
•Strong experience with Microsoft Office Suite;
•Proficient in:
Estimating software (Timberline or similar)
Project Management software (Prolog or similar)
Scheduling software (Primavera or similar);
•Understanding of the influence of market conditions on pricing

Essential Functions
•Oversee processes and quality for estimating department;
•Manage department workload and assign projects;
•Ensure that the estimating process runs smoothly and efficiently and client expectations are exceeded throughout the duration of the project(s);
•Build relationships to understand client, designer and subcontractor needs and expectations;
•Analyze drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimate for projects;
•Effectively facilitate collaboration among team members;
•Effectively communicate with all stakeholders;
•Participate in business development activities, presentations and interviews;
•Coordinate with company executives to develop and implement work pursuit strategies;
•Review estimates prepared by staff estimators;
•Participate in client interviews to secure new work;
•Study market trends and keep clients and executives informed;
•Strategically plan and implement yearly department and company initiatives;
•Early conceptual estimates
