Injection Mold Process Technician

Job Description

Sets up and adjusts molding machines and secondary operations for other workers and prepares and supplies production material to work stations; makes sure mold changes are done within SMED cycles and there is no interruption with material supplies
B. Description of job duties and responsibilities
Timely, accurately and efficiently performs following job duties
1. Installs molds and sets up peripheral equipment per instructions and SMED cycles.
2. Starts molding machines per established cycles and submits first article parts for approval.
3. Removes molds at the completion of the run and prepares for storage or repair. Cleans work area in preparation for the next job.
4. Reports any mold, machine or equipment problems to the team lead for further review and takes immediate action with regard to any unsafe conditions as they arise.
5. Maintains cleaning and downtime sheet, tool maintenance card, tool set up sheet, molding machine setting/parameter setting sheet.
6. Cleans dryers, hoses, filters, grinders, etc. to prevent contamination.
7. Cleans molds, robot end arm tooling, vision control system, or other per established maintenance cycles.
8. Sorts vision-control rejects and re-applies to process
9. Applies and maintains lean manufacturing initiatives and tools (5-S, SMED, etc.).
10. Supplies work stations with material (inserts, packaging, etc.).
11. Prepares raw material at material drying and feeding stations and ensures materials match job order.
12. Provides operator assistance where necessary and performs other duties as required.
13. Sets up equipment for secondary operations.
14. Reacts on electronic production control alarms and troubleshoots machine problems.
15. Inspects and measures parts and products to verify conformance to specifications.
16. Separates scrap material by material category in established recycling pins.
17. Ensures smooth shift change by communicating essential information and preparing machines and equipment for following shift
18. Works at different shifts or work areas as needed.
19. Substitutes team lead or tool maintenance technician if needed.
20. Follows safety and security guidelines and use required personal protective equipment.
21. Continuously improves work processes within areas of responsibility and makes suggestions to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.

16. work full time in formaldehyde exposed areas in levels established by OSHA and near or around high voltage equipment.
17. understand and apply statistical process controls methods, graphs and charts.
18. understand and interpret mechanical blueprints.
