My client an excellent medical communications company based in the Chicago, Illinois area is actively in search of a Scientific Director – Publications Manager- Publications Director, orStrategic Scientific Lead with Medical Communications experience. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced publication/Pub planning professional to partner with senior level management to establish, oversee and manage their Publication Planning & Promotional Medical Education efforts from a scientific standpoint.
This role will work directly with clients to provide strategic product positioning, guidance & insight, have a strong scientific acumen, direct staff in the development of clinical and scientific content that are aligned with client and faculty needs. This role will work closely with clients as well as managing the scientifically accurate and on message content development within the company.
- · Manage the development of comprehensive, integrated, strategic promotional medical education programs, and primary & secondary publications / publication plans for multiple therapeutic categories or agents.
- · This role will be accountable for all medical aspects of publications including strategy, planning, and implementation.
- · Strong experience to ensure company compliance within the changing publication landscape
- · Understanding of the current industry guidelines (CMJE, GPP2, Sunshine Act)
- · Work collaboratively with the scientific affairs team to assure high quality, accurate medical/scientific content
- · Participate in new business process from a scientific affairs standpoint.
- · Creation and execution of scientifically sound publications/publication planning activities
- · CMPP Certification a plus
- · Ensure highest level of client satisfaction
- · This person is expected to work with and lead a team of individuals who consistently develop highly credible scientific content
- · Experience with mentoring, direct, quality control/quality assurance of junior staff members work (Assoc Medical Director, medical writers, etc.)
- · Lead discussions with faculty, authors, KOLs, clients, and internal team members regarding client strategic messaging and content development.
- · Management of appropriate internal & external resources when necessary to complete project work
- · Serve as a management team member assisting with business development initiatives, proposals from a scientific standpoint, proposal presentations, etc.
- · Oversight & quality assurance of the development of scientifically accurate content that aligns with the strategic goals of the company’s existing & new clients.
- · Demonstrate a high level of comfort articulating tactical recommendations as well as scientific and therapeutic information for clients across multiple therapeutic categories.
- · This role will oversee all medical relevant aspects of publications including strategy, planning, and implementation.
- · Strong experience to ensure company compliance within the changing publication landscape
- · Work collaboratively with the scientific affairs team to assure high quality, accurate medical/scientific content
- · Initiative to gain necessary background on product and/or therapeutic category
Requirements:
- · Advanced degree in life sciences, MS, RPh, PhD, PharmD, or MD (or equivalent degree)
- · At least 4+ year’s medical education /medical communications or pharmaceutical industry experience
- · Strong Publications & Publication Planning experience
- · Significant involvement (from conception through implementation), in a broad spectrum of medical education programs
- · Previous content development & oversight experience that would include original and review manuscripts, abstracts, posters, oral presentations, executive summaries, and publication plans.
- · Strong ability to provide strategic and tactical recommendations
- · Experience managing reports (managing & mentoring junior staff)
- · Experience leading & managing a team is a plus
