Participates in design, development and implementation of architectural deliverables, to include components of the assessment and optimization of system design and review of user requirements. Contributes to the determination of technical and operational feasibility of solutions. Develops prototypes of the system design and works with database, operations, technical support and other IT areas as appropriate throughout development and implementation processes. May lead multiple projects with competing deadlines. Serves as a fully seasoned/proficient technical resource; provides tech knowledge and capabilities as team member and individual contributor. Will not have direct reports but will influence and direct activities of a team related to special initiatives or operations, as well as mentor junior band 5 Architect 1's. Provides input on staffing, budget and personnel. Typically 7 or more years of architecture experience.
Line of Business Description:
Design and implement state-of-the-art analytic techniques and help design our core analytics platform. Using your creative and technical skills, guide a team in developing cutting edge machine learning algorithms. Develop highly-distributed algorithms in the Big Data stack, including Hadoop, Spark, MongoDB and graph databases. Mentor co-workers on the execution of standard software development activities including design, development, implementation, test, documentation, and support using standard established software engineering principles. Perform Proof-of-Concept engagements with the new and emerging technologies. Teach your peers on current and emerging trends in software development best practices, data discovery architectures, and data modeling.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline from an accredited university
• 7 or more years of experience working with large amounts of data
• 7 or more years of experience as a Solution Architect
• 3 or more years of experience in the Big Data stack (i.e., Hadoop, Spark, MongoDB and graph databases)
• Experience with providing architecture artifacts (High Level Design document, solution design, architecture diagrams…)
• An understanding of the benefits of using graph databases and in-memory capabilities in a data discovery environment
• Working knowledge of version control systems such as Subversion or Git, and bug tracking tools such as JIRA
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
