Estimator Construction Job Duties:
- Reports to Chief Estimator.
- Receives and manages assigned projects from beginning to end.
- Arranges and attends job site walk thrus and identify site logistics and requirements.
- Manages the distribution of drawings and specifications to qualified subcontractors.
- Responsible to constantly seek out new subcontractors in order to improve and grow our resources.
- Capable of providing value engineering options in advance of their request.
- Develop scope sheets for each trade to develop comprehensive coverage.
- Develop and collect unit prices for materials, labor and combination.
- Provide estimating services within the union and non-union arenas.
- Recognize pricing trends due to market changes
- Develop rfi's, justify allowances, organize "page turn" meetings as necessary with architect.
- Develop a material take off of all items shown on drawings and specifications.
- Develop a corresponding labor take off associated with the installation of materials.
- Collect subcontractor pricing (at least 3 qualified bids) and plot on leveling sheet beside in house estimate. Provide analytical conclusions.
- Identify long lead items within the context of the proposed schedule during the bidding phase .
- Develop a basic critical path schedule.
- Prepare a complete formal submission in accordance with the prescribed date.
- Provide appropriate timely follow up as needed to provide best chance for award
- Capable of preparing and negotiating subcontractors for purchase by Chief Estimator or Project Management.
- Provide support for Project Management as needed after award
- Provide feedback to subcontractors after award regarding their pricing, accuracy and promptness.
- We promote attending educational workshops for improvement within the estimating sector
