Assistant Controller
Allentown, PA
Role:
The assistant controller will report to the organization's Controller and responsible for the general accounting operations. This will include managing a large team, completion of the monthly, quarterly and year end close, review of financial statements, process improvements, internal controls, and work cross functionally with other departments including Financial Reporting, Financial Planning and Analysis, cost accounting, etc.
Responsibilities:
- Work with the controller to build, direct and manage general accounting operations
- Monitor and review general ledger activity and postings to general ledger accounts
- Manager A/P and A/R manager as well as the departments work; Investigate inventory discrepancies
- Review and analyze the integrity of the financial statements
- Consolidate results from subsidiaries
- Produce monthly results packages and analysis for review meetings with management.
- Identify control weaknesses and work to develop internal controls / processes
- Assist business unit managers with budgeting and forecasting.
- Work cross functionally with both internal and external teams to ensure process improvements are implemented and the business unit is running efficiently
- Support SEC related reports as needed
- Lead, develop, coach, & mentor a team of accountants to reach their full potential and motivate upward mobility within the organization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree. Master's or MBA is a plus
- 6+ years of relevant experience
- CPA is preferred
- In depth understanding and knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley (SOX)
- Manufacturing industry is highly preferred.
- Must have experience with an ERP system
