my client is a well regarded Union Mechanical Contractor. They are seeking an HVAC Mechanical Piping Design/Drafter with the following skills. They have an immediate need for HVAC and/or Process Piping Draftsmen in NYC. Qualified candidates must have Five (5) years min experience with Layout and design of mechanical HVAC Power and/or Process Piping systems for mechanical construction projects. Experience must also include: understanding of mechanical drawings, project specifications, and layout of hangers, pipe and system components including equipment piping specialties, metallic and nonmetallic materials and various methods of connecting piping for HVAC, Power and Industrial projects; Experience working with AutoCAD, Auto desk Building Systems 2007, Navisworks are a plus; Previous experience with coordinating drawings with major subcontractors such as Sheet metal, Electrical Plumbing and Civil contractors is needed. As a Draftsman you need to demonstrate strong math skills and the ability to layout and coordinate piping systems from small bore to 120? diameter in both 2D and limited 3D. You will have the opportunity to further develop your skills working in 3D design but will primarily be working on 2D coordination drawings. You will be expected to be able to travel to your project work site in an area that is within a 2-3 hour drive of our NYC office. A local candidate is preferred however relocation may be available for out of state candidates.
