Job Details:
Systems Engineer
Plan, manage and evaluate the technical planning and installation of LANs/WANs. Manage and support the enterprise network and ensure system availability, security and capacity monitoring. The Infrastructure Engineer Is directly responsible for designing, configuring, installing, maintaining, and repairing network systems, subsystems and servers; providing information, direction and/or recommendations regarding network installations and configurations; resolving network operational issues; and providing technical support to District and site staff. This Includes Infrastructure hardware used to conduct Its dally business.
Responsibilities and Duties:
The Infrastructure Engineer Is responsible for (though not limited to):
• Maintaining servers and network infrastructure for critical business processing.
• Providing engineering services to meet business strategic needs based on holistic understanding of Data Center Operations (Operations, IT systems, SAN, NAS, Network, Windows/*nix Systems Administration, Command Center and DR practices).
• Evaluating and/or recommending purchases.
• Liaison with vendors and service providers.
• Identifying and recommending continuous improvement opportunities to Improve customer satisfaction, internal work efficiencies and cost reduction opportunities. Identifying and recommending metrics to measure and report on continuous Improvements.
Required Skills:
• Ability to troubleshoot and understand complex network architecture
• VMware administration experience
• Windows Server Administration
• SAN Engineering
Required Training and Education:
• Four year degree In IT, Business or closely related field is preferred, though experience can be substituted for education
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Window Systems Administrator/Engineer
• Minimum of 2 years of experience with AD/DNS/DHCP
• Minimum of 2 years of experience with TCP/IP networking
• Experience with n-Tiered architecture
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
