Senior Estimator (Heavy Civil Construction)
Excavation – Civil Construction - Site Work - Site Development – Construction
A Heavy Civil Construction company with project work focused on excavation/ sitework construction is actively seeking to hire a Senior/Lead Estimator. This role will bid & estimate a variety of projects in site construction in the local PA/DE/MD areas (Excavation & Utilities, Storm & Sewer Lines, Earth Moving, Water & Sewer lines, Grading, Erosion Control, etc.). Qualified individuals will provide technical knowledge, people skills and experience to bid & effective estimate assigned projects. This is a full-time permanent staff role based in office.
Responsibilities:
- Strong estimating & negotiation skills
- Serve as an active participant/leader with projects from bid selection & initiation through the planning phase
- Work with project team to develop and implement strategies to achieve project pricing & cost objectives according to the estimate
- Address and manage necessary change orders with the project team
- Communicate with the project team to understand project scheduling and conflicts
- Attend & participate in regularly held leadership meetings
- Identify upcoming project opportunities
- Manage the available bid time to ensure accurate and timely preparation of a complete estimate
- Organize and detail the estimate so that it can be properly priced, easily understood for review purposes, and efficiently turned over to the field personnel
Qualifications
- Approximately Five (5) + or more years of industry excavation/site work construction experience; (Excavation, Utilities, Sitework, Asphalt Paving, Concrete Projects)
- Experience leading a team and/or department of estimators
- Strong estimating, negotiation, and bidding experience
- Excellent communication skills both written & verbal
- Excellent organizational skills
- College degree a plus (not required)
